Beautiful Mum
Morning sunlight spilled through the thin curtains, warming the living room floor where little Levy stood, wobbling like a tiny tree in the wind. His chubby fingers clutched the edge of the couch while his bright eyes searched for the one person he trusted most.
“Come on, Levy,” Libby said softly, kneeling a few steps away with her arms open wide. Her smile was gentle, full of patience. “You can do it, sweetheart.”
Levy shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Walking was still a mystery to him, something exciting and a little frightening. He looked at his mum again. Libby’s eyes shone with encouragement, never rushing him, never losing hope.
On the rug nearby, Leo sat cross-legged with his favorite toy car resting in his lap. The older brother had paused his racing game to watch the important moment. His face was serious, like he understood that something big was about to happen.
Levy lifted one foot. It hovered in the air for a second before landing clumsily in front of him.
“That’s it!” Libby whispered, her voice full of pride.
Another step followed. His legs trembled like jelly, but he kept going. The distance between him and his mum was only a few tiny steps, yet it felt like crossing a mountain.
Leo leaned forward, eyes wide. “You’re doing it, Levy!” he said, excitement bubbling in his voice.
Levy giggled at the sound of his brother cheering. His confidence grew. One more step. Then another.
For a brief moment, he stood without holding anything at all.
Libby’s heart swelled. She didn’t rush forward. Instead, she stayed right where she was, giving him the space to discover his own strength.
With a small squeal, Levy stumbled the final step and fell gently into her waiting arms.
“You did it!” Libby laughed, hugging him close.
Leo clapped loudly from the rug, proud of his little brother.
In that simple living room, surrounded by toys and morning light, a big milestone had just happened. Levy had taken his first real steps, guided by patience, love, and the quiet encouragement of a beautiful mum who believed in him every step of the way.
