From Doubt to Trust—A Beautiful Story 💕

Rainbow’s Promise

Rainbow wanted to help her mum take care of her little sister, but Libby didn’t seem to trust her at all. Every time Rainbow reached out to hold the baby or offered to help with feeding, Libby would hesitate, her eyes full of doubt.

“Be careful, Rainbow,” Libby would say, gently pulling the baby back. “She’s still very small.”

Rainbow would nod, but inside she felt a sting. She wasn’t careless. She just wanted to help—and maybe feel important too.

One afternoon, their mum was busy in the kitchen, and Libby was folding laundry in the next room. The baby began to cry, her tiny wails filling the house. Rainbow stood nearby, unsure. This was her chance… or maybe another mistake waiting to happen.

Taking a deep breath, Rainbow slowly approached the crib. “It’s okay,” she whispered softly, just like she had heard her mum say. She gently rocked the crib, careful not to be too rough. The baby’s cries softened a little, but didn’t stop.

Rainbow remembered how her mum would hum a quiet tune. Nervously, she tried it. Her voice was shaky at first, but she kept going. Slowly, the baby calmed down, her tiny eyes blinking sleepily.

Just then, Libby appeared at the doorway. She watched silently for a moment, surprise written across her face. Rainbow froze, worried she had done something wrong.

But Libby didn’t rush in. Instead, she smiled—just a little.

“You did that?” she asked.

Rainbow nodded, unsure.

Libby stepped closer and looked at the now-peaceful baby. “That was really gentle, Rainbow. Thank you.”

For the first time, Rainbow felt something warm instead of hurt. Maybe Libby didn’t trust her before—but now, things could change.

Later that evening, when their mum asked for help, Libby turned to Rainbow and said, “Do you want to hold her?”

Rainbow’s eyes lit up. Carefully, she took her little sister into her arms, holding her just right.

This time, Libby didn’t worry.

And Rainbow finally felt trusted.
