Pregnant Amanda Proves She’ll Be the Best Mum

Best Mum: Pregnant Amanda Just Wants to Hold Baby Levy, but Libby Doesn’t Trust Her

Amanda rested her hands on her growing belly and watched the tiny bundle in Libby’s arms. Baby Levy was only a few weeks old, wrapped in a soft blue blanket, his little fingers curling and uncurling as he slept. Amanda’s heart melted every time she saw him.

“Can I hold him for a minute?” Amanda asked softly.

Libby hesitated.

It wasn’t the first time Amanda had asked, and it wasn’t the first time Libby had paused before answering. Libby shifted Levy gently against her shoulder, rocking him slightly as if buying time to think.

“I don’t know, Amanda,” Libby said quietly. “You’re pregnant… I just don’t want anything to happen.”

Amanda blinked, surprised. “Nothing will happen. I just want to hold him.”

The truth was, Amanda loved babies. Her own child would arrive in just a few months, and every time she saw Levy it made her even more excited about becoming a mother. She imagined what it would feel like to hold her own baby, to rock them to sleep, to hear their tiny laugh.

But Libby looked worried.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you,” Libby added quickly, though her voice didn’t fully convince Amanda. “You just look tired lately. Pregnancy is hard. What if you lose your balance?”

Amanda felt a small ache in her chest. She understood Libby was being protective, but it still hurt.

“I promise I’ll sit down,” Amanda said gently. “You can stay right next to me the whole time.”

Levy made a small squeaky sound in his sleep, and both women looked down at him.

Amanda smiled. “See? He already likes me.”

Libby sighed, torn between her worry and Amanda’s hopeful expression. Slowly, she walked over to the couch.

“Okay,” she said at last. “But you sit first.”

Amanda quickly sat down, her eyes shining. Carefully, Libby placed baby Levy into Amanda’s waiting arms.

For a moment, Amanda didn’t speak. She simply held him, looking down with a tenderness that filled the room.

Levy stretched his tiny hand and wrapped his fingers around Amanda’s thumb.

Libby watched quietly. The way Amanda looked at the baby—so gentle, so full of love—made something inside her soften.

Maybe, she thought, Amanda was already going to be the best mum.
