The Day Milo Got Lost

Baby Monkey Looking for His Mom

High in the emerald canopy of the rainforest, where sunlight dripped through the leaves like golden honey, a tiny baby monkey clung to a trembling branch. His name was Milo, and today was the first day he had ever felt truly alone.

That morning, Milo had been wrapped safely in his mother’s warm fur as she leapt gracefully from tree to tree. She always knew where to find the sweetest fruit and the safest paths through the tangled vines. But Milo had been curious. A bright blue butterfly fluttered past his face, and without thinking, he loosened his grip. For just a second. For just one tiny moment.

When he looked up again, his mother was gone.

“Mama?” he squeaked, his small voice swallowed by the vast forest. The trees seemed taller than before. The shadows darker. Every rustle made his heart race.

Milo scrambled down the trunk, his little hands and feet slipping on the rough bark. On the forest floor, everything smelled different—damp earth, fallen leaves, and strange animal scents. He missed the familiar rhythm of his mother’s heartbeat.

He decided to be brave. Mama always said, “When you’re scared, climb high and look around.” So Milo climbed the tallest tree he could find. From the top, he scanned the sea of green. Parrots burst into the sky, and monkeys chattered in the distance—but none of them were her.

Tears welled in his big brown eyes. “Mama!” he called again, louder this time.

Suddenly, a familiar chatter echoed back. It was soft but strong, like a melody he knew by heart. Milo froze. There it was again!

He followed the sound, leaping clumsily across branches, nearly slipping but refusing to stop. The chatter grew closer, warmer.

Then he saw her—his mother racing toward him, աչս wide with worry. In one swift movement, she pulled him into her arms. Milo buried his face into her fur, breathing in the scent he loved so much.

The forest didn’t seem so scary anymore.

As she carried him safely through the trees, Milo held on tighter than ever before. He had learned something important that day: adventures are exciting, but nothing in the world feels better than being found by the one who loves you most.
