Rose Knows Rina Is Big Enough Now, But Rina Still Thinks She’s a Baby
Rose smiled as she watched Rina struggle to carry her little backpack. It was a funny sight because Rina was no longer a tiny child. She had grown taller, stronger, and much more independent over the years. Rose knew that Rina was big enough to do many things on her own because she was older now. However, Rina still behaved as if she were a baby who needed help with everything.
Whenever it was time to tie her shoes, Rina would call, “Rose, can you do it for me?” When she needed to reach something on a shelf, she would immediately ask for assistance instead of trying herself. Even when choosing what clothes to wear, Rina wanted someone else to decide for her. Rose often laughed and reminded her, “You can do these things by yourself now.”
The truth was that Rina liked being taken care of. She enjoyed the comfort of knowing that someone would always help her. Deep inside, she still felt like the little girl she used to be. Growing older had happened so quickly that she had not fully realized how capable she had become.
One day, Rose decided it was time to help Rina see how much she had grown. She encouraged her to complete small tasks without asking for help. At first, Rina complained and said she was too little. But after successfully tying her own shoes and packing her school bag, she felt proud of herself.
As the days passed, Rina became more confident. She discovered that she could solve problems, make decisions, and take care of many things on her own. Rose continued to support her, but she stepped back whenever Rina was able to manage by herself.
Although Rina still liked hugs, attention, and being treated with love, she slowly understood that she was no longer a baby. Rose had always known it, and now Rina was beginning to know it too. Growing up did not mean losing the love and care of others—it simply meant learning to believe in herself and the abilities she already had.
